Some jobs are a car going from A to B. This one had a story behind it, and it began as a straightforward piece of project car transport: a half-restored 1966 Buick Skylark GS sitting in Bolton, waiting to go to the Midlands.

Roy had agreed to buy the 1966 Buick months before we got involved. Life got in the way at his end and the purchase had to wait, and to his credit the seller held the car for him rather than putting it back up for sale.
The car was a restoration in progress, roughly halfway through. The front end was stripped, the wings and body panels were off so the engine could come out and the chassis could be got at, and the bulkhead and chassis beams had been taken back and were being treated. The bodywork had been looked after all the way through the project and was in good order. What it was not, was a car that could be driven onto a trailer, so it was winched aboard instead.

Delivery was to a storage unit near Tanworth-in-Arden, out between Birmingham and Coventry. Roy came to meet the car with a friend, having bought it blind off eBay without ever seeing it in person.
Then the story arrived. The friend with Roy had known the car before. Its original owner years ago was a friend of theirs, and Roy had known the car back then too, when they were all in the same circle. It was sold on at some point and disappeared, as these cars do. Years later Roy bought a Buick Skylark GS on eBay, sight unseen, from a seller he had never met, and it turned out to be the same car.

He was thrilled with it, and he thanked us for sticking with him through the months of delay. He said the live tracking link had been the best part of the day, watching the car work its way down to him. Every customer gets one, and on a long run it saves a lot of wondering.
What he said afterwards:
Excellence of the highest order. Brilliant communication and extremely helpful when moving my 1966 Buick. Reasonably priced too.

A half-stripped restoration is not a normal car move. No keys turning, no driving on, panels and parts travelling with the car, and a shell that needs strapping without putting a mark on paintwork somebody has spent months getting right. That is routine work here, and a car that does not run is no problem as long as it rolls and steers.
Project cars and part-way restorations are a big part of our classic car transport work.
We are based in Lancashire and work the length of the country. For classics, project cars and non-runners see our private vehicle delivery service, or local vehicle recovery if the car is closer to home.
