Can I Track My Car During Transport…

It’s one of the most common questions I get asked by private customers, and it’s a fair one. You’ve just bought a car, maybe one you’ve been after for years, and now someone you’ve never met is driving off with it. Of course you want to track your car during transport and know where it is.

The Short Answer: Yes

Every one of my transporters has live tracking hardwired in. When I collect a car for a private customer, I text them a link, and from that moment they can see exactly where their car is on a live map, right up to the moment it arrives at their door.

There’s no app to download and no account to set up. You just open the link on your phone and watch it come up the motorway. I set how long the link stays live, and once your car has been delivered, it simply stops working.

Why It Matters

Most of the time, the tracking link isn’t really about the map. It’s about peace of mind. Rather than wondering whether the car’s been collected, whether I’m stuck in traffic or what time I’ll turn up, you can simply look. A lot of customers tell me they check it every so often through the day and then put the kettle on when they see I’m ten minutes away.

Tracking Is Only Part of the Story

A lot of transport companies now mention tracking, and that’s a good thing. But it’s worth asking what’s actually behind the dot on the map.

What to Ask Any Transport Company

If you’re booking car transport, whoever you use, it’s worth asking:

• Can I follow my car during the journey?
• Who will actually be driving it?
• Can I speak to the driver directly if I need to?
• Is the vehicle fully insured while it’s in transit?
